Dear San Marco Church Family: Thanks to everyone who attended our congregational meeting last Sunday! I hope that everyone who attended learned something new about the church . This church will be 140 years young as of May, 2026, and I look forward to working with some of you to plan a celebration of this milestone. Please reach out to me if you are willing to serve on the team planning this event. We are offering a “Membership Sunday” on February 22. This is an opportunity to make your relationship with San Marco Church official. The reason this is important is that it publicly demonstrates your commitment and support of our Christian faith as we live that faith out in the local church. We already have some folks who will become members that day, and I would love to have you join them. Just reach out to me at stevehart100@gmail.com if you’re interested or have questions. Remember that our February Meet Me in the Parlor event will be Friday, February 13. This is a great opportunity for getting to know people in a casual, relaxed environment! Our Ash Wednesday service will be February 18 starting at 6:30pm. We are also starting a Lenten Bible Study that will begin Wednesday, February 25. Details coming soon! I have been asked to preach this Sunday for the 60th anniversary of the church I served full-time from 2011-2015, First UMC of Port St. John. One of the great rewards of serving in pastoral ministry is looking back at the many people with whom I shared life while serving a congregation. Serving a church offers the blessing of observing someone grow in faith to become the person God called them to be. I have many encouraging stories of how God has met someone in distress and transformed their life into something wonderful. It is an honor to play a small role in this process. Bryan Amerling is preaching Sunday at San Marco Church, and he will continue with our series entitled “Awakened to Grace.” The topic Sunday will be sabbath, and Bryan will be exploring Exodus 20: 8-11.
